You know I would much rather see an email of this type than all the he said she
said crap on MOPO these day.  It's interesting to me to see what other
collectors are looking for.
I know what my opinions are of the sellers in this hobby, (I've bought from
almost everyone).  And I have zero complaints for the 3 major dealers, and
very few complaints for some of the smaller guys.
If you don't like Bruce, Heritage or Rich, don't buy from them.   And I can
care less why you don't like them,  I just know they are all good in my book.
There are plenty of great smaller sellers like Rick, Captain Bijou, Steve
Sally, Lumi Hascalovitz (and many more). So try one of them if you don't like
the big sellers.

I'll tell ya boys and girls this bickering is depressing. At least it is to me.

Subject: [MOPO] It Feels so Good to be closing in on Raymond Chandler

It does.. it feels good

I've been collecting Chandler stuff for 30 years and in the last few I have
really gotten to loading up on them.

The problem that I have now of course is that most of what I still need are big
expensive items (ne: Dahlia one sheet, Double Indemnity most of it, Big Sleep
lobby cards, assorted 3 sheets and other oversized posters, the first three
first editions in dust jackets, the scarce Long Goodbye posters). Fortunately
when Heritage gets the stuff I need, if I can't afford it today, I can use time
payments. However seeing as I prefer raw posters not on linen (less than 1% of
my total collection of thousands of posters, not just the Chandler stuff, are
on linen) things like the Strangers on a Train and Blue Dahlia posters they
have this go-round are not on my radar and unless they go well below market
value, I won't be bidding on those.

at this juncture, I only need 3 one sheets (Dahlia, Indemnity, Strangers),
about 30 total lobby cards (big sleep & dahlia all 8, 7 cards from Falcon, 6
from Strangers and incredibly 6 from Marlowe, 3 from Brasher Doubloon one Lady
in the Lake, but I know who has it), several window cards, several inserts,
numerous oversized pieces, several half sheets etc.

strangely, I also need one of the last Dime Detective pulps

also fortunately, seeing as I'm getting so close, I can actually now focus on
the more expensive posters I need, which is great.

it really feels good to have accomplished this collection so well.. If I can
just find these other items I will be pleased as punch.
so if anyone has this material (titles below), I can easily tell you what I
still need on any particular title. Although, where concerns Non-US paper, I
have a feeling that many pieces are going to be too much money. Like for
instance, it is unlikely I want to spend 8 or 10 grand for the French Big Sleep
poster, or many of the Italian posters. I would be thrilled however to hear of
anyone owning a copy of the UK Quad in particular for Murder My Sweet which is
titled Farewell My Lovely, as well as any other UK paper on that title in other
sizes of the 1950s re-issue paper, largely due to the fact that it is the only
paper with the novel's title and I'm curious if anyone has ever heard of US
paper for that film from the advance screenings before they changed the title.
I have stills and seeing as they did several advance screenings, I'm certain
there has to have been paper created, though it is a question if any exists.

titles below.. let me know if you have something

Falcon Takes Over
Time to Kill
Double Indemnity
And Now Tomorrow
Murder My Sweet
the Unseen
Blue Dahlia
Big Sleep
Lady in the Lake
Brasher Doubloon
Strangers on a Train
Marlowe
Long Goodbye
Big Sleep
Farewell My Lovely

thanks
Rich

ps.. for everyone's information, at some point I will definitely be doing a
book showing all the various paper & other collectibles on Chandler.. It will
be a fun item for all to see
