* As some of you know, my favorite animated Disney picture of all-time isn't
Snow White, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty (although the latter IS
impressive on a big screen, and was shown in 70mm tonight at AMPAS's
administrative offices in Beverly Hills).

* It's Pinocchio, which I regard as the "anthem centerpiece" of the Disney
empire.

* I
 noticed Bruce has put up a lot of "Pinocchio-related" items in his
 all-animation
 sale - which will close tomorrow - including three with a direct
provenance/link to the long-gone Center Theater in New York - where the film's
world premiere was held in February 1940. Some of these beauties were printed
in
1939!  While
 Pinocchio posters, lobbies and stills from 1940, 1945,
1954, 1962, 1971, etc.) are familiar to fans - in my view, the "event" paper
 linked to this theater - is lesser seen, sometimes more affordable despite
arguably being more rare....

* Set of four 13 x 15 art prints with their original envelope (the last set
Bruce offered fetched more than $4K - but the set closing tomorrow was made
exclusively for the world premiere):

* World premiere 8 x 10 lobby card and dinner menu, dated February 7, 1940:

* A Center Theater program handed out to NYC patrons on March 14, 1940:

* I never
 tire of this movie and I'm pleased to see these "event" pieces
from the Center Theater - and hope they'll do well. Truly great finds.
Parenthetically, my wife owns an UNBACKED style A one-sheet from 1940 that's a
beauty, so our Pinocchio "fix" is done for now, see pic below). To the left is
a scarce "American Graffiti" insert that I purchased from Adrian Cowdry; to the
right is a "tacked on" 1-sheet to "Moulin Rouge." -d.
