I am probably the contrarian here, but online retailers have had a free ride for a long time. As an online retailer, I don't care whether online sales are taxed, but I'd like to pay just one entity and let that entity pay the individual states. This could be easily accomplished with software. I also think that manufacturers should have one wholesale price for EVERYBODY. Then we would start to see the proverbial level playing field. This is an issue that pushed the mom and pop stores to the margins and the big box guys came in. They didn't care as long as online sales were marginal. Now they do.
If all these guys were made to compete, we would see quality and customer service return to retail. I don't want to see the brick and mortar guys close up.
