I no longer buy from sellers who use Global Shipping unless the item is of a higher value. The reason is eBay charges Canadian tax and handling on every single package they ship, which can double or even triple the cost of shipping, depending on the price of the item. On the other hand, if the seller ships directly to Canada, packages are rarely hit with these charges unless the declared value is over about $200 and/or the package is oversized.
BTW, in my experience (I've messaged several of them) most US eBay sellers seem to be unaware of the shipping charges non-US buyers must pay if the seller uses the Global Shipping Program. I normally ship internationally via First Class USPS insured mail and the cost has gotten widely expensive, so much so that I'm sure it's killing my international sales in connection with my lower priced items.
