Don't believe referencing the fact that in retrospect it seems incredible such an outrageously camp personality as Liberace wasn't believed to be gay is automatically homophobic. Think much of that joke is on the naiveté of earlier generations. Guilty myself in the past of finding the US lobby card showing Liberace in passionate embrace with Dorothy Malone with the title "Sincerely Yours" amusing. Didn't think much of the clippings though.
