Closing Sunday is our auction of *52 of the very best patriotic war posters<http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/15.html> * (from World War I and World War II), and closing the following Tuesday is our auction of *234 original vintage scripts<http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/13.html> *! We know that many of you might never have purchased even one of either of these two types of collectibles, but if you have ever even remotely considered doing so, *NOW* is surely the time, because you won't find a selection like these any time soon (maybe ever!), and there is the real possibility for some great buys in both sets of auctions! *About the very special collection of 52 WWI & WWII patriotic war posters closing Sunday* * *Note that we were contacted by a consignor who had this *WONDERFUL*collection of posters, and we know that it would take many years for anyone to collect these posters one at a time, so we were happy to devote a special auction solely to these 52 posters! Note that some of the posters are linenbacked, and some are not, but this is always clearly marked on each auction (along with the size of each poster, because generally war posters came in three different sizes). Note that war posters were created for several purposes. Some are aimed at recruitment, some to promote buying "war bonds", some to motivate citizens one way or another, and some aimed at the members of the military themselves, to let them know that their country and its citizens are behind them. The U.S. government in particular made a huge number of such war posters in both World War I and World War II (often employing top illustrators of the day, including James Montgomery Flagg, who created the iconic "I Want You" Uncle Sam poster that was used in both World War I and World War II, but many other countries have created war posters for many other wars as well! Note that this collection contains 16 World War I posters (those posters are extremely rare, and they all will soon be 100 years old!), 35 World War II posters, plus 1 wonderful Russian poster from 1976 aimed at stopping the arms race! The collector who assembled the collection was trying to get the very finest of these posters, and he certainly got a large number of the best of them! If you are a poster collector of any sort, you certainly should consider adding at least *ONE* of these posters to your collection, because they are incredibly striking and everyone can relate to them. This is a rare opportunity to choose from 52 of the very best ones! *About the **collection of scripts in the set of auctions closing Tuesday* This is a really incredible collection of 234 original vintage scripts! All the *scripts *we auction are originals that were printed for use by actors when the movie first came out (or were printed to "pitch" the movie to studio executives). *EVERY* one of the *scripts* we auction are absolutely genuine and from the time the movie first came out (there are unscrupulous dealers on the Internet who take original scripts and copy them and then sell those copies as if they were originals). There *ARE* a very few scripts that are not from the time the movie came out, but those are very clearly noted. Both of these are primarily single owner collections, that were put together over many years, and both contain a huge number of extreme rarities. It would likely take many years to even come close to duplicating either group of items (and of course, anyone could purchase a number of items from either of these sets of auctions and have a "instant collection", and if some items go low, there is certainly tremendous incentive for dealers to buy for resale, because quality items like these come along infrequently, and are sure to sell from any website before too long). But authentic vintage scripts are a direct link to the actual filming of that movie, and while an actor might have had more than one example of a script, and certainly a fair number were printed for each movie, vintage scripts were actually used before, during, or immediately after the actual creation of the movie, and if you have a favorite movie, owning an original script from that movie is really kind of magical!
