We are currently working very hard at adding in the 200,000 or so old
"missing" images to our Auction History! Those of you who visit our * Auction
History <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archive.html>* regularly at *
http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archive.html* know that it is far and
away the best resource on the entire Internet (or elsewhere!) for
researching current and historical values of vintage movie posters (and
also to see images of just about every movie paper item known to exist).
And unlike other online databases, we *ONLY* include items where that price
was paid for *IN CASH*, while other databases include *LOTS* of results
that "fell through", were re-negotiated, or where the auction house was in
fact "buying" the poster from itself! It also has a far better search
mechanism than any other, letting you quickly find the exact results you
are looking for.

But there has been *ONLY* one real flaw to this database (a fairly minor
one, in the big scheme of things!), which is that we did not start keeping
perfect online images of all our sales until 2004, so for a lot of sales
prior to that date, we only have the date and price sold online, but not
the image of that item. This *ONLY* affects pre-2004 sales, but it is a
total of around 200,000 images of the 841,970 oldest online results
(we *DO*have images of 635,541 results, which is pretty remarkable!).

But the good news is that these 200,000 or so images are merely "misplaced"
and *NOT* "lost forever" and we are working on fixing this! What do I mean
when I say they are "misplaced"? First, for many of them, the sole issue is
that they were not named in the way we now name images, so we can't simply
add them to the correct auctions (of course, we could have someone do it
one at a time, but it would likely take one person several years, at least,
and we are not going to do that!).

But that applies only if we want to make 100% certain that the exact
correct image goes on those pre-2004 results. What we can do to incredibly
speed this up is to use *ANY* one of the misplaced images to fill in a
missing spot. If we only sold that item * ONCE*, then it will be the exact
image of that item. But if we sold that item more than once (say something
like a CARRIE one-sheet!) then the image on that pre-2004 result might be
up a different CARRIE one-sheet we auctioned during those pre-2004 years.

The only real downside to this not always having the exact right image on
some pre-2004 results is that sometimes the condition won't match up (it
might say "very good to fine", and the stock image may clearly be a lesser
condition than that). So to be sure no one is misled by this, *we will put
a disclaimer on all those images explaining that they may not be the exact
image*. But in every case, they will be auctions that occurred 10 to 15
years ago, so we feel certain it won't be that big of a deal to anyone,
because we think few people are going to be basing current prices on
results from that long ago!

We have begun this pretty massive project, and have made some real behind
the scenes progress in naming these 200,000+ misplaced images. Hopefully we
will conclude that portion of it and be onto the next phase of this in the
next few months and have it completed by the end of this year (or sometime
early in 2014).
