I am posting this for four reasons.
1) The *FINAL *deadline to consign to our *14th Annual Halloween Auction*is
*Friday, September 20th*. We have been consigned several great
horror/sci-fi posters and lobby cards, but we would love to get lots more!
Given the really sensational horror/sci-fi results from our just
concluded *September
Major Auction* (did anyone expect Attack of the 50 Ft Woman one-sheet to
sell for *$19,000*?), this certainly seems to be the time to consign
quality items! We have top bidders looking to get top titles, and they love
to buy from us, because they know that we are 100% honest in our condition
descriptions (especially on restored items), so we get more money than do
other auctions (or eBay sales), and yet *we charge the lowest commissions
of any major auction* (and if of them say otherwise, then they are flat-out
lying).
But in this auction, it is also fine for you to send inexpensive
horror/sci-fi items as well! If you are a dealer who has a digitized
inventory, it should be very easy for you to search through your items and
locate and send just horror/sci-fi items to us. But since the deadline is
close, be sure to send an email to ua to let us know what you plan to send.
Note that you can consign any sort of posters (U.S. or non-U.S.), lobby
cards, or stills.
2) Now is also the time to consign to our *December Major Auction*. With
the great success of our just concluded September Major Auction (see
below), it is clear that we have lots and lots of top buyers, and they want
to buy any sort of quality item (at least from us!). We already have quite
a few excellent items consigned, and this is sure to be another great
auction!
*IMPORTANT!* I am going to be making a really major effort to keep lesser
posters out of the December Major Auction. Why? Because there were around
20% of the items in the September Major Auction that sold for under $50,
and I absolutely believe that those items would have done * BETTER *in the
regular weekly auctions, because there, they would have been between the
"middle of the pack", and the top items, so many more people would have
seen them, because so many people only sort high to low and look at the top
few pages of items.
But in the major auction, they fell at the very end, and they got far fewer
views, and I believe that cause them to go for less (and of course, some
people are going after expensive items, and skip the less expensive ones
because they have to decide how to spend the money).
So I am asking all of you to bear this in mind when sending items for
the *December
Major Auction*. Of course, you can send items and leave it to *ME *as to
whether they should be in the major auction or in the regular auctions
(because my goal is the same as yours, which is to maximize how much the
items sell for!). It is not a question of strictly price, but also of
rarity and desirability. When I put an item that we have all the time in
the major auction, I think that few people are "fooled", and most of them
know that it is something they can skip and bid on the next time it shows.
Here is a "teaser ad" we just created for the December Major Auction:
As the September Major Auction absolutely proved, we consistently get
higher prices for quality items, specifically because we have a *LOT *of
top buyers who mostly only purchase from us (because they are tired of
negative experiences at other venues), and because our buyers *KNOW *that
they can completely trust our condition grading, our unenhanced images, our
descriptions of the amount of restoration each item has had, that we will
pack everything wonderfully and only charge the actual cost of shipping,
etc, etc, etc! Shouldn't *YOU *consider sending any quality items you have
considered selling to us so that they can be included in this very special
auction?
3) *Our just concluded September Major Auction was a major success with
$447,421 in total sales*, and our *June Major Auction* also had great
results, and in both sets of auctions, we picked up many new buyers who
have continued buying in our three regular weekly auctions, and those have
had really great results as well!
Of course, when you look over the September Major Auction results, many
collectors will be most struck by the $19,000 for the *ATTACK OF THE 50 FT
WOMAN *one-sheet or the $16,607 for the *LAWRENCE OF ARABIA* pre-Awards
British quad, but there are lots and lots of other wonderful results for
all sorts of items! You can view solely the items from each part at these
links:

I Results (COMPLETED! $203,166 in sales): 385 one-sheets (linenbacked
& unbacked, rolled & folded)

II Results (COMPLETED! $78,889 in sales): 384 linenbacked posters
http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/1/date/2013-09-05/archive.htmlPart
III Results (COMPLETED! $65,430 in sales): 272 rolled posters of all
types
http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/1/date/2013-09-08/archive.htmlPart
IV Results (COMPLETED! $99,936 in sales): 241 LCs, "flat package"
items, and "paperbacked" posters
Why have we received so many great results? Of course, a large part of the
credit goes to our wonderful consignors who gave us so many rarities, but
it is also quite clear that more and more collectors prefer to deal with an
auction house where they *KNOW *that every item has been 100% accurately
described, that the images have not been enhanced, and that they will
almost certainly not have any problems before, during, and after their
purchases, and that if somehow they do have any problem, then the owner of
the auction (me!) will quickly step in to resolve that problem!
Please look at *ALL *our results (not just the top ones), and we know that
you will see that they verify that we at eMoviePoster.com *DO *get the best
results overall (and this is true at every price level, when you compare
"apples to apples and oranges to oranges")!
I don't want to embarrass anyone by citing specific examples, but I have
been seeing case after case of items auctioned on eBay and items auctioned
on auction sites other than ours, where the items auction for * FAR *under
what we have auctioned the same or similar items for (in many cases, we
have auctioned the exact same item in almost the exact same condition for
double or triple the amount, and the two auctions took place only days or
weeks apart)! This goes to prove what I wrote above, which is that we have
many buyers who don't look at eBay or other auction sites, and all our
bidders are willing to bid higher in our auctions, because we completely
eliminate the "fear factor" (the item might be a repro, the seller might
have overgraded it, the item might be poorly packed, etc).

4) We were recently consigned an excellent collection of Marilyn Monroe and
Audrey Hepburn items, and we will be putting an "All Monroe/Hepburn
Auction" on our schedule (likely for mid-December, just in time for the
holidays). The collection contains many of the best one-sheets and Belgian
posters from the films of both actresses, plus a few other sizes. But there
is room in this set of auctions for many more items, so if any of you have
Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn items you wish to consign to this special
auction, please <mailto:[email protected]?subject=Monroe or Hepburn
items to consign>e-mail Phil a list of what you have (so we can tell you if
we have them or not). Please note that consignments to this special auction
will be included based on a "first consigned, first included" basis, so
there is a real incentive to contact us right away with what you are
considering sending! This is sure to be a wonderful auction!

This is the latest in a series of similar "special" auctions we have held
(Star Wars, James Bond, Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, etc), and in each we
have received excellent results "across the board". We have no minimum
value for consignments to this auction, so you dealers should look through
your inventories and consider sending us *ALL *of your Monroe and Hepburn
items!
And if *YOU *consign to *ANY *of these special auctions, then maybe next
time you will be reading about a crazy high result on *YOUR *poster!
