*I JUST LOOKED OVER THE 999 LOTS OF VINTAGE STILLS & PRESSKITS ENDING THIS AFTERNOON, AND I SAW LOTS AND LOTS OF REALLY WILDLY UNDER-PRICED ITEMS (there are perhaps 10% that are fairly priced, but the other 90% are filled with super-low prices!).** **THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE IS THAT PEOPLE ARE* * WAITING FOR THE VERY END TO BID, BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THIS WILL HAPPEN, AND IF PRICES STAY WHERE THEY ARE, THEN TRULY, THIS IS A TIME FOR ABSOLUTE STEALS!** SINCE ALL OF THESE CONTAIN AT LEAST TWO STILLS, AND SOME MANY MORE (up to 103!), MANY OF THESE LOTS ARE CURRENTLY JUST PENNIES PER STILL!
*We have* ***999 lots of vintage 8" x 10" stills & presskits (altogether containing 2 to 103 stills per lot with 7,308 stills in all!)** at auction, and there are just 9 hours to go before they start to end this afternoon, starting at 3 PM CST at *http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/15.html* *Note that there are many lots in this auction which all contain stills from a specific STAR, but NOT from just one of their movies, but rather from a variety of films they did over their careers!* These were put together by a collector over a decades long collecting career (and he has now consigned them to us), and if you have some favorite stars, this is a great way to get multiple stills on that star from many of their movies at one time, rather than having to find them in separate places (and pay multiple shipping charges to get them to you!). Be sure to look over these "star" lots very carefully, as this set of auctions contains the last of these that we were consigned! The auction also contains lots of *Presskits*, which came into existence sometime in the 1960s, primarily as a replacement for pressbooks (although there was a period of several years when both were made for most films). Basically, theaters started running fewer and fewer newspaper ads, and switched to newspaper and radio advertising, and so pressbooks became pretty superfluous. The studios would prepare a presskit which was a cardboard folder with two pockets within it. Usually the outside of the folder had the title of the film and sometimes an illustration. Inside of one pocket would be a set of 20 or so 8" x 10" stills from the film and in the other pocket were 10 or more supplements (on inexpensive copy paper), which described the film and the actors (basically the type of text material that used to be in pressbooks). Sometimes collectors would buy presskits and sell some or all of the stills individually to other collectors. It is rare to find a presskit with most or all of its original stills and most or all of its original supplements. For each presskit we offer, we note how many stills it contains and how many supplements. The prices on many of these 999 still lots are really hard to believe!
