To all...I read all the posts and really enjoyed the thoughts on this
subject...I think there are many great points and aspects of each post that are
true...but the elephant in the room seems to me ...that since the dynamics of
collecting in the modern age have changed the opportunities to buy posters..so
too have the habits of seasoned collectors to buy things they actually want....
the plethora of auction venue options and the shift in understanding of
availability and rarity at the same time altered what people find
valuable....every collector evolves and grows based on their experiences ...I
try to examine my collecting habits every 2-4 years and find that I have
increasingly been interested in more expensive ($200 - $5000) material and
$20-$100 material is usually more common, overexposed, or just overall less
impressive...I personally spent the last 5 years rarely ever buying a sub $100
item but the 15 or so years in collecting before that I often
did...I am fine waiting for "event" auctions with exceptional
material as my taste has matured and as I have completed certain areas of
interest...rare and elusive material took on a new dimension...I imagine I am
not the only one who developed in this way....
