The point with Collins was he was smooth and had the good humor - Shaw was the better crafted actor. Everyone liked Bodie as he was slick.
But Collins had less development as an actor so couldn't achieve much more than actioners. He would have done a better job than Pierce Brosnan as 007 I feel.
