Hi Folks
Many of you whom are members of MoviePosterBid.com know that we
recently upgraded the years-old software we were using and ran our
auction that ended last week on the new website with our new installation.
Well, though most things worked correctly, we did indeed have some
trouble with the website including bugs in a couple spots that
prevented most particularly the bid history from properly showing in
the auctions as they were running as well as after the auctions ended
One problem we had was installing a module on Tuesday the 11th that
completely crashed the system. The site was down for the most of the
day as the programmers reloaded all the thousands of files from a
previous installation and though the site was working okay when it
was turned back on, it created some other issues - the bid history
for instance - that were now working incorrectly and we had to make a
decision to either try to load new modules again, or wait until the
running auction was over at which point we have a week or so to work
on the site with no auctions running.
So tonight the site will be down for a few hours as the programmers
load stable modules and updates to correct the following issues:
* Bid History is supposed to show each proxy's current bid, so
that a correct understanding of the chronological bidding that was
done to achieve the final bid price can be understood. The programmer
has fixed this issue
* Correct incremental bidding that "hops". For some reason, when
a current high bidder had a higher proxy and another bidder bid,
rather than the proxy bidding to the next bid increment over the last
bidder's bid (which in our current structure is just $1.00), it was
only increasing to the last bidder's bid, though the bidder with the
high proxy would indeed be the high bidder, but it should have been
for $1.00 more than the bid shown.
* Facebook & Social Media Share button. This was the app that
crashed our website. It will be reloaded and retested and hopefully
the bad code was fixed. It is important that you be able to share the
pages you want to with your friends..
* An upgrade to the member database system and display. You won't
see this right away as once the new module is installed, some work
will have to be done to add the functions to My Area pages
* Sold Auctions Search. We have a simple search that will be
installed tonight. This will so far only have the results of the
auction that just ended. We will be adding the 100,000 other items we
have sold in our auctions at some point in the next few weeks as the
information is translated & imported into the new system and we will
be redesigning the search pages to offer the information people are
looking for
This upgrade will take place late tonight and we will be testing to
make sure these functions work correctly before the next auction
begins on March 5th
