This is the last in this series of how to read your Google Analytic results, there is so much more to it but we could be here all day and I am sure you have movie posters to discuss....

Log on to Google Analytics, go to: Behavior/In Page Analytics (let it load)

Wow! Now this IS impressive...a life view of your website with accompanying analysis!

If you have ever wondered what was good about your site (ergo, what is not so good) then this is going to reveal some more. This will flat out tell you exactly what appeals to your site visitor when they surf your website because despite all your expert knowledge about your business and all the things that you think is important to you therefore will be important to them - these are the facts, and eeeek....

The data is simple, read it and weep.

OK, so what do you do with it? Remove the dead wood, or at the very least move/change it or paint it(!), if all that writing about who you are blah blah blah (boring boring boring accompanied by that old read more link is actually getting next to no clicks then why waste the space on your front page. If the most clicked item is the Star Wars poster you have for sale but the pretty woman poster is getting none, well perhaps you might want to remove the Pretty Woman poster and try something else. If you have a giant "click to register banner" taking up a lot of space and no one is actually clicking it then maybe downsize that to be part of the menu and put more more posters in its place. If your top menu has a link to News and no one clicks it, then your News link is only new to you...better to put a link to another part of your shop and make that News link a sub-menu somewhere...

And so on, by now you get the picture: Read. Review. Repair

Tip: Once you've looked at the front page you can actually click through (from within Analytics) and read the results by page.

That's all for now.

I hope you've enjoyed these few articles over the past couple of weeks and perhaps even got something out of them, there is so much more to know about web design, web marketing and web analysis than there was even just a few years ago; of course what you do with the information is up to you, some will simply choose to ignore it (the "my way works just fine" theory), and that is absolutely that is fine, but as always, having a website is easy, making it work for you is a LOT of hard work.

regards
