Dan
I doubt anyone here or anywhere else would "unfriend you" over
anything, much less this issue
we all like you way too much for that
and of course, my previous offer to you to host your next attempt at
a live auction on MoviePosterBid, with loads of advertising, will
always be open. I would look forward to working with you on that project
good luck to you Buddy and I'm sure we all hope that an A#1 fella
like yourself will get what he is due

My sincere and heartfelt apologies to any and all who very kindly
participated as sellers or buyers in what is clearly turning into
the worst-realized movie poster auction in history, which
unfortunately for me bears my name as curator and cataloger. For
what it's worth, I too suffer financially with all the other
consignors in that not only have I not been paid for my sales (for
which Premiere was likely paid 3 months ago)but worse still, I
worked over 2 months on speculation against a percentage of the
hammer prices, and have yet to see that as well. In comparison,
while I was putting the auction together, I also consigned some of
my own things to Profiles in History, whose auction was a full month
after Premiere, and I was paid for those sales almost 2 months ago.
As for promotion and catalogs, I made as many linked highlight
announcements on MOPO that I felt wouldn't irritate all of you, as
there is already so much of that filling up MOPO each day. I gave
the owners of Premiere a copy of Classic Images LONG before the
auction for him to run an ad, and he waited til last second, as they
also did with the catalog text I gave them, for whatever reason they
couldn't get the catalog printed until 3 days before the auction.
When they asked me in last fall to mount their first-ever
full-auction day of movie posters (they have years of experience
with props and costumes) they seemed like nice, sincere, and at
least reasonably professional people, but that is now proving to not
be the case, so all I can do is apologize to those who joined Todd
Spoor and me in trying out this (failed) experiment. Your (friend?)
in the hobby for over 40 years, Daniel Strebin/ postermandan
