I successfully collect from over 99% of our buyers, because those who consider not paying know that I will never deal with them again, and that they will have great trouble starting a new account (whereas on almost every other site, especially eBay, it is the easiest thing in the world to start a new account, and later not pay yet again).
Most people who are banned from eMoviePoster.com wait a few months and then try to start a new account. When that doesn't work, they email asking to be given "a second chance". Here is one I just received: "I have previously been a member of your site around a year ago, but was removed due to failure to make a payment. Before this, I had purchased many items from you without incident. I would like to know if I could be reinstated as a user? I assure you there would be no further failure to make payment problems" Here is how I replied: "This is Bruce, the owner. The items you did not pay for cost $429. I re-auctioned them, and they only sold for quite a bit less the second time. So I lost a lot of money out of my own pocket. Therefore, I can't reinstate you as a user. I have found that most of the time when I used to give people second chances, they would do the exact same thing a second time, so now I don't ever do that. I hope you will consider this when you are bidding with other places. And I wish you the best of luck in the future. Thanks, Bruce". ------------------------------------ Now I know the above response may seem harsh, but it is *MASSIVELY *unfair to the honest bidders to have to compete against people who do not intend to honor their bids, and I am sorry that it happens even 1% of the time, and I don't want to give proven offenders a second chance to do it again. This is unfair to honest bidders, unfair to consignors, and unfair to me, because I have to do twice the work for no extra income, and often (if it was a repeat customer like this one) I have paid the consignor, so it is *WE *who take the loss if the item sells for less the second time. I feel our system is much more fair all around, than what is done on most auction sites, where you see the exact same items returning over and over and over. And many thanks to our tens of thousands of honest bidders who DO honor *EVERY *bid they place! -- Bruce Hershenson and the other 29 members of the eMoviePoster.com team P.O.
