Do you ever wonder WHY movie posters from before WWII are so much more rare
than those from after? One big reason is the many, many "paper drives" held
during the war, when people would contribute old paper of any sort, which was
then recycled into new paper (there were major shortages of many items, like
rubber, silk, metal, paper and much more, because the Japanese had cut off most
of the normal supply of those items to the U.S.).

Here are two cool vintage ads from the time, where patriotic superheroes urged
everyone to recycle their paper:

So the next time you can't find any movie paper on a pre-WWII title you really
like (or the cost is prohibitive), blame Captain America or Superman!
