In terms of the US film industry, Hollywood is no longer the place where movies are made. It is where deals are made and money is counted. Meanwhile various states, provinces and countries are in a never ending race to the bottom underwriting an industry that has no interest in building infrastructure in their locales. At the same time, investment in long term middle class jobs doesn't happen, because there is nothing sexy about a politician getting a photo op with a factory owner as compared with a movie star. My politics for the day for MoPo.
