The best song I know of written by a great songwriter about another songwriter
is “P.F. Sloan” written by Jimmy Webb. There are two Jimmy Webb recordings of
it, but I prefer the first one, which was only issued (to the best of my
knowledge) on a promotional Warner Brothers multi-disc package around 1972.
Jimmy recently re-recorded it on a recent recording. Incidentally, if you
ever get a chance to see Jimmy Webb, you shouldn’t hesitate!
