*About these non-U.S. lobby cards and folded **non-U.S.poster**s*
Most posters from countries outside the U.S. were either issued unfolded,
or were folded at one time, but have been stored flat long enough that
re-folding them would "bring back" creases, so we auction them unfolded and
send them rolled in tubes. But almost all of the posters of Germany and
Australia were issued folded, and even if they are stored unfolded, the
folds remain, so we auction these posters together, and send them folded.
Since this means they combine easily with non-U.S. lobby cards, we auction
them all together in this auction of "folded non-U.S. posters and lobby
cards".
*Did you know that other countries made (and continue to make) lobby
cards? *Just about every collector knows that most U.S. theaters stopped
using lobby cards in the 1970s or earlier, and that very few U.S. lobby
cards were made after that time (and most of the ones that were made were
used outside the U.S.). But a fair number of collectors do not know that
the "lobby card format" remained popular in many other countries (and is
still popular in the present day). The main difference between these sets
from other countries and those from the U.S. is that they often are printed
on thin "poster-like" paper, and of course, most have a foreign language
instead of English (although many German lobby card sets have solely
English on them, for unknown reasons). If you are a collector who likes
lobby cards, but have not been able to find sets on titles from the 1980s
to the present, these non-U.S. lobby cards can be a very attractive
alternative (plus, in some cases, they have entirely different scenes, or
some different scenes from that of the U.S. lobby cards, assuming that any
U.S. lobby cards were made for that title).* In this particular set of
auctions, we also have some ULTRA-RARE Australian lobby cards from the
1930s and 1940s!*
I just looked over these 999 Australian & German posters + other non-U.S.
posters & lobby cards, and many of the prices on these are really hard to
believe! With just a few hours to go, the items include 94 items with no
