I noticed that Bruce has a note on the descriptions of the Double McGuffin
suitcase style one sheets that says:

“…. an advanced collector has told us that this poster is a Saul Bass design
but Bass opposed his name being credited on the poster because the producers
altered aspects of its design without his approval!”

The design on the Australian daybill is slightly different and I wonder if that
might have been from the original concept.

Are there any Saul Bass experts out there who might have more definitive
information about this?

Regards

John

Subject: [MOPO] Greatest poster price variation ever?

We have all seen posters that sell for little and then later sell for lots,
(and vice versa, ouch!), and some of those involve staggering amounts of money
made (or lost).

Here is one that is not insanely high in the amount of dollars, but what a
price variation!

>From $5.60, to $44.00, to $11.11, to $395.00, to $58.00, to $131.00, to $98.00!

See them all here:

http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/DOUBLE%2520MCGUFFIN/tag/body%2520style/sort/13/archive.html

Now there is another one ending tonight, at
<http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=3534942>

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=3534942
and it is currently at $48.

Pretty weird!
