I've had a few similar experiences from all over the world, including
right here in the USA
for instance, I once sold a rare 1923 issue of Weird Tales to a
friend for $400 and this is 35 years ago, so it's a chunk of money
I was in NYC, he was in Portland
after a couple weeks he called me and I told him I shipped it. it
never arrived and after I sold him some other stuff, I filed an
insurance claim with the post office. they promptly paid the
insurance claim and we forgot about it.
11 months later, the package came back with the mailman one day and I
was home when he did delivery
I looked at it, was surprised, told him the story and we both laughed.
I had to sign for it, and they didn't care that they had paid me $400
for it already and that it should have gone to a post office auction
for unclaimed merch
there was no explanation on the package or anything

I know some dealers exclude shipping to countries in South America
and I'm starting to think that maybe I should also do that.
I sent a package to Argentina at the end of August last year. I
assumed that the customer received it because I didn't hear anything
to the contrary. However, this morning the package arrived back to
me almost ONE YEAR after I sent it. Everything was intact without
any damage and the tracking details show it as being "delivered"
back to me. Apparently it was "unclaimed" in Argentina.
Who knows what has happened to it in the last year but I wonder if
anyone else has had similar experiences in sending mail to Argentina.
