Thanks, Tom - Great story for you on the Corbett ship - About 45 years ago my dad was going to visit my aunt and uncle before they retired from NC to Florida. Everyone’s all passed now but me to tell the tale. So I told my dad just ask Uncle Larry if you could take a look through his back stock room (they had a little mom and pop shop in tiny town) and see if there were any toys in it. I was hot on the toys trail in those days figuring if movie posters were art - then toys were sculpture. So dad says, I will ask but I know they don’t have anything old. Fine - Just do it, said.
A week later dad returns. I said. Well? Well? He didn’t say a word. Just went to the trunk of his big ass Cadillac and opened it - it was full of toys - among amazing treasures like tin airplanes and toy cap guns all in the box, were 5 mint Corbett’s in their boxes - My aunt and uncle’s $2.98 price tag still on them from 1953 - unsold and put in the back room for nearly 20 years - and that was 45 years ago! Everything has a story - so am trying in my site to tell those stories - seems like it gives the material personality - and the pursuit some meaning. There’s a neat 7 minute film about my folks in the blog section of my site. More to come in that area - but take a look. I think you will respond. Bookmark me, baby, and keep tuning in to the show!
