*We just made even more excellent improvements to searching in our Auction History, Auction Galleries, and Want List! <http://www.emovieposter.com/tips_archive.php>* We *previously announced <http://www.emovieposter.com/tips_archive.php?id=800>* some improvements to our *Auction History <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archive.html>*, *Auction Galleries <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/all.html>*, and *Want List <https://www.emovieposter.com/members/wantlist.php>*, and now we have three more improvements to announce! *Those of you who use our Auction History <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archive.html>*, *Auction Galleries <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/all.html>*, and *Want List <https://www.emovieposter.com/members/wantlist.php> will quickly see how much these help you to search more quickly and more productively, making the best resources of their kind on the Internet even better!*
*1) You can now search for a specific title and not get "extra" results!* Here are three ways to search (the first two have been available for a long time, but the third is new): a) Search by description. If you go to our *a* <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/all.html>*uction galleries <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/all.html>* and simply type in your search and and click the "Search" button, you are doing this. Examples of this: * Marilyn Monroe <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/Marilyn%20Monroe/all.html>* * horror <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/horror/all.html>* * aviation <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/search/aviation/all.html>* b) Search by full auction title (the full auction title looks like this example: *2d706 ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS 8x10.25 still '39 Jean Arthur sings to Cary Grant as the band plays!*). To do that, type in your search terms and check the box that reads "Film Title Only". Examples of this: * candid <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/searchfield/title/search/candid/all.html>* * Russian <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/searchfield/title/search/Russian/all.html>* * Cary Grant* <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/searchfield/title/search/Cary%20Grant/all.html> - *Note: This search would yield fewer results than "description search", but can be useful, such as when you are looking for stills that picture a star. * c) Search by film title only. This allows you to get only items that match the exact film you are looking for. This is a big improvement especially for titles like Airplane where the title is the same as a keyword. To use it, start typing a film title and a list of suggestions will appear below the search box. Simply click on the title you are wanting in the list, and it will create a search with "film:" in front of the film title. That's it; no more "extra" results! Examples of this: * Airplane <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/AIRPLANE/all.html>* * Marilyn ('63) <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/MARILYN%20%28%2763%29/all.html>* * Batman ('66) <http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/BATMAN%20%28%2766%29/all.html>* *2) Given the above changes, it meant thousands of Want List <https://www.emovieposter.com/members/wantlist.php> searches could be improved, and we did that for you automatically.* However, we had to make assumptions (such as, if your search was for "airplane", we assumed you were looking for the film, not the keyword), so surely a small percentage of the "improved" searches are not what you intended, so you very much * NEED* to look over your Want List searches to make sure they are set up the way you want. If you see one that seems wrong, go ahead and change it, and we will review it within a few days to "optimize" it. The search will have "film:" in front of the search terms if we thought you were looking for a specific film rather than a genre or keyword. One more note: In the case of films where more than one exists (such as The Three Musketeers), we couldn't possibly have known what you intended to search for, so we leave it "as is", and we encourage you to follow the above suggestion in step "c" above to edit your Want List to be searching for the specific film you want. *3) Did You Mean.... *Finally, when you search for items under certain situations (such as when there is more than one version of a film or searching by the foreign language title rather than the English language title), we have always displayed red text that reads "Did You Mean..." following by suggestions for what you were looking for. When that happened, you were shown zero results until you clicked on a suggested title. But now when you perform this kind of search, it will both give you the results for *ALL* the possibilities as well as give you the "Did You Mean..." suggestions. This can save you a lot of time, especially when the number of results would be small *OR *when you aren't sure of the year of release for the poster you are looking for.
