*Bidll's ANZAC Day Auction*
ANZAC Day (25th April) is a very special day in Australia and New
Zealand, one of national commemoration in both countries as it marks the
anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and
New Zealand forces during the First World War. 'ANZAC' stands for
*A*ustralian and *N*ew *Z*ealand *A*rmy *C*orps. On the 25th of April
1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied
expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became
know as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this
day. With the coming of the Second World War, Anzac Day also served to
commemorate the lives of Australians and New Zealanders who died in that
war. The meaning of Anzac Day today includes the remembrance of all
Australians & New Zealanders killed in any military operations.
ANZAC Day a national holiday in both countries and it is tradition that
one attends Dawn services to remember those who fell in battle serving
our countries; in addition and out of respect almost all retail stores
throughout the two countries stay shut until 1pm on ANZAC Day, our
auction will start at 1pm on ANZAC Day (Saturday 25th April) and run
through to Sunday 3rd May.
_*After the success of our 2015 Australia Day Auction we are calling for
consignors to submit appropriate material for this auction (to be held
in two months).*_
*There will be three special sections*
1. Movie posters /produced/ in Australia (same as before) e.g. A
Daybill for Casablanca (1942) is acceptable as is a USA1SH for The
Delinquents (1989) but a USA1SH for The Time Machine (starring
Australian Rod Taylor is not).
2. Movie posters for /Australian-made/ movies (same as before).
3. Military themed posters - _MUST BE Australian produced posters_ eg
* The 'Buy Bonus Bonds' type posters or 'Recruitment' posters, or
even Movietone posters (with war news content) or
* Posters for films that have a war/military theme - but they
_MUST BE Australian produced posters_./BTW, I know Star Wars was
a battle fought between the forces of good and evil, but
technically it's not a military film, so if you want to put one
in and it qualifies then it goes in the other sections!/

BTW - even if you don't have anything for this event you can still place
a FREE listing in the standard sections of BIDLL, during our last Blue
Ribbon event I do know that some of our sellers made sales even though
they didn't have items listed in the Australia Day auction - visitors
take time to look at all items listed on our site...
Questions and comments are welcome.
