We haven't had a major Mopo faux pas in quite a long time. I thought (hoped)
those days were behind us! J
But thanks to the weekend "exchange" between Rich and Filip, and Ben's
request that maybe I should step in...well, here I am.
My position is well known that I prefer to let things settle themselves and
as David K. pointed out, I've only had to intervene a handful of times when
things got really bad. (This situation is mild compared to some others!) But
to get to the point...while I would prefer that people stay calm, civil and
generally expletive-free in dealing with others on MoPo (sorry Rich!) the
real MoPo infraction was with Filip when he violated our "suggestion" on how
to be a good MoPo'er (as posted in our FAQ):
It is considered improper netiquette to post a private e-mail to the entire
membership without that author's permission.
So I ask that Filip please respect this rule going forward. And while I like
colorful language as much as the next guy (hey I have HBO)...Rich, for the
sake of keeping the peace, would you consider expressing your anger with
just a little less Technicolor? I really have no right to ask that,
considering your e-mail was a private one after all. But when communicating
with the MoPo family I would really appreciate a little restraint. And as
I've learned running MoPo for 20 years, sometimes saying NOTHING says it
all. After all, it takes 2 to tango...(or in this case, tangle).
End of scolding.
