One of the great classics of the Soviet cinema, Sergei Eisenstein's film is the epic story of a great Russian prince who defended the motherland from invading Teutonic knights. If this seems to resonate with the pre-World War II era, it is no wonder. The massive film is a wonder to behold and it is made even more majestic by a splendid score by none other than Sergei Prokofiev. This poster was printed in Russia and was intended for use outside the Soviet Union, probably for English speaking audiences. The film was distributed in the USA by Sovexportfilm. It is possible that this poster is a re-issue from the 1940s or it could date from 1938. Condition is very fine.
