Maybe they didn’t want to go through the “hassle” of going through the six coffin-sized tupperware containers that housed them. I went through them as when they were at Marvin’s (at a glacial pace)I was lucky to be able to “find” and “look” through one press book even after four hours—there are pros and cons of being a hoarder/collector, but that wasn’t a pro :)
I looked through some of the two pallets worth of boxes with the bound trade magazines and other books, etc. And that seemed like a good deal two—though I think one of the pallets could be dumped as the 60s and 70s items aren’t worth much. But, there are some cool things in there like a decent amount of individual Lion’s Roars (probably 10-12), MGM Studio News (the precursor to the Lion’s Roar and much more elusive), and Marvin had a lot of early Motion Picture Heralds and Motion Picture World’s, which are some of my favorite trade magazines for the great photos, color trade ads, and inserted studio annuals from all the studios—but a lot of work to go through everything, but therein lies the fun of discovery... But, overall it seemed like a loss for Profiles and a gain for the dealers, so that is good—and the amount they lost in poor assessment of what they had, would have paid above and beyond what the though was saved by sacking Daniel (sacking DS, was BS ;) And the world spins on and on and anon... > On Jun 29, 2016, at 6:39 PM, Todd <[email protected]> wrote: > > Why they didn't show these titles in the auction catalog is way beyond me, > some were much better than the single photo they showed in the catalog.
