Hey Scott and all,. dry mounting was a common practice in frame shops in the 90"s and before. While I always discouraged a customer from doing so,. many times they insisted because they wanted the poster to be perfectly flat. Many frame shops still tell customers to dry mount their poster. I have many customers who dry mounted their posters long ago when the posters were less valuable. Now their posters are worth money and I have them removed from backing material and linenbacked, So the poster isn't a total loss, but it has to be worth the cost of removing from the backing and then linebacking,. which is typically around $300.
