Whaaaat??? Bill Stout did your album cover??!! Been following his career for
years. Before I was a poster dork I was a cartoon dork. You know he did the
art on the Rock and Roll High School one-sheet, right? So the guy who put
the Ramones on a poster is doing your album cover. I'll buy it! (Also, I
hear the music is pretty good.)

Can they C0-Exost?

OK, OK, this post is a bit of a stretch but there are enough hobby related
characters in the tale to make it ALMOST relevant (although a flame or two
would not be completely unexpected,,,,)
As some of you know, i am a guitarist/songwriter who had achieved a modest
degree of notoriety for my work with Steve Miller, Hot Tuna, Big brother &
the Holding Co., Van Morrison, Greg Kihn and...., OK, enough of THAT, right?
Suffice to say I make enough off music to support my poster habit.
I recently hooked up with Richard Halegua at second-tier comic show. Rich
and I had a blast hanging out speaking reams of fluent geek when I met a pal
of his. We hit it off instantly; he knew a LOT about music. He and I we both
stunned to discover that I knew many of his decades old vinyl bootleg cover
art, including an EC-style "Tale from the Who". We bullshitted for a very
long time and i mentioned that I had just finished what i felt was my
absolute best collection of musical work. He agreed to do the cover, and
deal was struck. Shortly after, I discovered he was none other than Willam
Stout, an album artist, movie poster designer ("Wizards" comes to mind, ,
the set designer for ZZ Top's early 90s tour, and th creator of many of the
undead pinks in "The Return of the Living Dead" . He told me recently that
he would have purchased my CD regardless and considered it string career
renaissance for me. The CD is now up for Best Rock CD at the San Diego Music
Awards, among other honors. Final side note: my pal was playing the CD
(titled "Flight of the Golden Dragon" by Greg Douglass & the Accomplices
when Steve Miller's manager dropped. He exclaimed, "Holy s**t, who is
THAT?". My pal informed him it was me. Mr. Miller, my former boss, was
called and 15 minutes later I was the opening act on October 8 at the Sonoma
Music Festival, going on before Paul Barrere , Dave Mason, and... Steve
Miller. I am under consideration for an opening slot on an upcoming world
your if things go well.
Somehow, MOPO played a part in the whole thing maybe I'll be able to get a
another copy of that INVISIBLE GHOST sheet i so floating let go of during a
moment of unfortunate $tupidity.
The CDs in question are available on Ebay, ten bucks + zero shipping, if you
wish to hear what the hubbub is about.
Yes, I am living proof that it is possible to be both a dweebus Americanus
and at least borderline cool.
