planet of the apes was one of best movies i saw when it came out in like
what 1968///it scared the heck out of me when he sees the liberty statue
protruding through the sand at end........my sonandi met Roddy when he
received his honorary doctorate at BGU in Bowling green OHIO....I took 2
ofhisphotgrapht Books..and my son had a bubble gum card and a doll..he
sigeneed it all....andthenews filmed ustalkingto hime//
He as ked my son////so Tommy do you want to be a actor????Tommy
replied...no I want to be a director..hw was like just maybe 7--8..Roddy
was excpecting Tommy tosay yes i wanto bea ctor...LOLOL;;Kids.....
well I told Roddy about how i had Hurrell stills...and his eyes
twinkled..with tears..as he saw a father and son who loved what he
did....
My son..got to meet a legend..I told Roddy how Fright night was one of
my fave films....and itwas funnyas we were theonly Fan boys at thehHigh
brow PHd gala event at the lilian Gish theater at BGSU....butI amsure
Roddy was overjoyed that day as allhis work was enjoyed by the simplest
ones..my son TommyandI ..andRoddy knew it..God bless RoddyMcdowell..he
was thereal deal of a person.collector, actor andwas why Hollywood
touched so manyofus inYOUTHY andin adulthood....I was so lucky to have
met sucja akind man....who loved Hollywood!
