So sorry for your loss, Alan. I'll always remember Rip as Artie on the Larry Sanders Show, one of the smartest and funniest shows ever produced for TV. And Rip's performance was the standout.

He was one of my favorites who always surprised me with what he brought to a role. What a whimsical, yet powerful actor he was. And a great guy, too. Rip was a friend and we had many laughs together. Riding in a convertible one sunny day up Topanga Canyon Blvd he opened his wallet and gave me a dollar bill to option his interest in the lead for a screenplay I'd written. I left home for moments like that. We had dinners (he liked frog legs at fancy restaurants, shared a few dances, a number of parties and a lot of laughs. He was truly one of the most remarkable talents I've ever gotten to know out here in Hollywoodland. He lived and breathed life large. Just like it's supposed to be. He was a pathfinder. He will be greatly missed.
