agree with You,,,,that was a chilling scene In the Fly....as well as
the film Them and "east of Krakatoa"
.. lava and earthquakes and natural disasters.. spooked me More then
monsters... however some Of the Hitchcock and sci fi did make me think
as our Imaginations could run wild.
hedison On Voyage to BottomOfthe sea was a statple TV show whenI was a
kid as well as vic morrow combat, f troop. Mansters, Adams Family,
Munsters, Monkees, allthe cowboy shows, landofthegiants, Mcales navy,
Batman, andof course allthe reruns,.,,we had Bill Kennedyamnd Rita
Bell fromDetroit...so ther was loads of sat movies, fris
night,afternook,,
Its so bizarre seeing Ourchildhood heros pass away fromthebaby boomer
generation....andtoThink Holywoods whole ti,e span is just a little
over 100years ,,foranyone from Mary pickford ,The gish sisters and
aboutanyone inthemovies.....
Sowe werso lucky to experience the Industry almost fromthe start..i
was thinking how i even Meta few ofthem...some
oftheinovators...historians./.archivists..orspoke onthePHone to
them.....some I did by Fli\uke accident...Like Linwood Dunn as he had
stuff for sale inthe Back of american cinematographer.... whenI talkd
to him I had never heard ofhim,,,when i hungup I looked him Up in a
specialeffects book,,,and all he told me he did was TRUE...he invented
the acme dunn Optical printer and he Put Kingkong onthe empire state
building in 1933 with willis Obrien.....now that was history,,,so
Hedison was part
wonderfull experience Many mopoers have all ben so blessed towitness...
whenI read the articles that Laura wagnerand othersin Classic Images
have chronicalled and saved forposterity I see how the dealers
likeYou Brusse and others on mope Have ben the stewards of Holywoods
history....fromthe eclectic onewho focus on one Film,,,totheones who
study entire genres..likesci fi..orwesterns...thesupercollectors who
loveitall......its been so cool that its saved.. period..and whats
really cool ,was itwas saved whenOthers thoughtitwas Trash,,back
inthe60s and 70s..andi saw ina documentary filma guy say he wished he
had a time machine so he couldgoback to 1970 and buy up alltehMGM
auction Like Debbie Reynolds did....the was a man Named Don wholivedin
Michigan who was there took Pics ofthe whole auction..he was ssci fi
filmeditor..he Boughta church in Michigan i went ther he knew all the
props and furnture but mostwas untaggged soit could have been in Casa
Blanca..but the fact was he savedit....he passed away so its probably
floatingarojd andits history Lost....so...its a crazy thing how
history gets lostand how injustteh43 yearsive benin it how video is
now a by gone era...andits streaming..andevenposters arenow most
digital made in computers by graphic art rather then Painters i was
lucky enough tomeet Drew Struzan in person..talk toHurrel on
Phone..and who knows ehoas manypeople would call and buy
stuff...justas you also have done ...
I think ofthe Dietrch song..well meetagain as the theme songof all
Hollywood Pioneers as itsgone so fast,,,,The parades gone By by Kevin
Brownlow is also so aprapo....so manygreat writers ,,I feel so
unworthy to have even been Inthe biz at all as ther are somany ofyou
so qualified, smartand educated,,,ButIlltellyou,,,Ive loved hearing
aboutalltehstoryes and seeing allthe memorabilia fromallof you,,as ive
learned somany things because of allyour generositys ofsharing

RIP Al "David" Hedison. He gave me (and so many others) the most vivid
