Both men have shown a deep passion For Movie posters over manymany
years...
and have helped to educate many of the beauty in cinema art
I would see Dwight's ads to buy posters in many in local and national
antique magazines
just as Johns books and his legendary "poster price almanac"
was my go to book to see what posters were selling for..before there was
a internet along with Warrens price guide
and back issue of Big reel. Film collectors world which became..Movie
Collectorts world, merged with Classic Images now
Back in 1977 we didn't have the auctions of sothebys. and others like
the auction house of Heritage, Bruce
there were just a rag-tag bunch of dealers and collectors scattered
across the world
Its funny as when i started Movie art was considered a laugh to fine art
dealers.
but so was advertisements art, old magazines, and painters of Olld art,,
then People like Lucas and Spielberg saw the historic value of the
Illustrators like From Fortune magazine, Sat e.Post- Rockwell <
leyendecker and many others
as well as the French Lautrec and stone litho masters...
what a awesome period a little over 150 years !!
these people helped save the history so that others could experience
it, we all are getting older in 60s ,70s 80s 90s
so the club is getting smaller
I just hope the ones with the means to help, reward theones who spenta
lifetime//to have the vision to build the collections.. house them
when others thought it was trash to be thrown out
the novice collectors ofthe early 20s.30s 40s 50s also should be Thanked
as many saved popculture before it had a name
just because they had passion for it,,not profitvalue
I remember Todd Freitag and others..Steven Fishler was 1st i remember
offering highoffers forposters like FRankenstein
but others collected not for the value but because they just loved the
images..of art..
I guess the most important part is to share the history with others
as Indiana Jones said it belongs ina museum
at same time
the gentlemen all deserve Kudos and a fair compensation for their 40-50
years
of research. labor, and experience To preserve and compile such a
awesome
work of production that only these fellows had the vision fortitude
and sweat equity had the foresight to see,,
I hope cool head prevail, as litigation is costly, and can drain the
passion when if the principals simply worked it out between each other
It would save 1000s in legal fees, and all could do more productive
things to help others withthe balance ofthier earth life with a focus on
POsitivity
In other words, the answer is the one with the most unconditional love
in it
as no one get to take a U-haul when we die
Im sure most want to leave their rewards to Family and friends
that to me would be the Ultimate success for all
and would be the real reward for the future, and others
In the small amount i have learned about collections//
The ones who amassed large collections knew they must leave it to
others and share it
like the English man who started the Smithsonian did.and countless other
Good luck to all the people involved it sounds like the lucas museum
could be a great Home
for Both men's Legacy of work
happy Passover -Easter
God bless

Poster perfect | The University of Chicago Magazine [1]
When Dwight M. Cleveland, MBA’87, sees a film poster that has
ascended from advertising to art, “it’s just really kind of a
visceral thing,” he says.“Most of the stuff that I buy, it’s
like a chemical reaction when I see it.” That deep-seated intuition
goes back to his earliest days as a collector.
