Thanks Jim. The Half Sheet frame is an interesting approach. It’s the type
of frame that I was hoping to find available somewhere but of course I was
thinking 8. The 2 frames of 4 is a nice alternative. How wide is the border
on your windowpane? Did you create a mat that lays over the four lobby cards?

Alan,
Yeah.. I have a four bedroom house but it’s not huge. My
collection was pretty much limited to the basement and my office at work for
many years. My wife passed away about 10 years ago (cancer) and I’m not really
working from the office any longer. The collection has made it’s way into the
rest of the house as my 4 kids are all out of the hours but I pretty much
restrict to the rooms that I use regularly. Of course, I still have the double
set of architectural drawing cabinets in the basement to keep the collection
safe when not on display

glass slides?

It terms of displaying lobby card sets. You can buy half sheet frames pretty
reasonably (try Sue from Mopo.) These half sheet frames work very well for
displaying 4 lobby cards. So, with two frames, you can display an entire set.
I am atttaching an example. These frames are a little higher grade, but the
principal is the same with lesser frames as well. Its a nice way to display a
lobby set. Jim

I’m mainly a lurker on MOPO but have been actively buying movie posters for
nearly 25 years. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I bought my first
posters as a way to decorate my office with something other than motivational
posters (yuck!). I’ve been a collector my entire life which has included coins,
comic books, pinball machines, and antiques/americana typically toys and
household items from the early to mid 20th century. I graduated high school
with the release of Star Wars and college with the release of another famous
movie. I was going to college in Worcester, MA and we actually went to watch
Outland in a converted theater with a huge screen. We discovered that we were
being treated to a free sneak preview and were mesmerized from the opening
scene. We hardly watching Outland because we couldn’t stop talking about the
opening sequence involving the hero trying to outrun a giant boulder…yup ,
Raiders. We’d never even heard about it before seeing it…

I’m a fan of some oddball stuff such as Boston Blackie. I’m sure that I have
the largest Boston Blackie poster collection including all 14 of the 1940’s one
sheets linen-backed and a beautiful one sheet from the 1923 Boston Blackie
silent movie and several lobby cards from the silent era.

I currently have approximately 50 movie posters displayed in four rooms in my
house at all times including lobby cards, inserts, half sheets, one sheets
(mostly), a 3 sheet, and a few oddball larger posters. I love displaying my
posters in frames that allow me to swap posters on a regular basis. Of course,
many of these frames have come from Sue Heim (thank you Sue)

I looking for options for displaying sets of lobby cards and glass slides. I
know that theaters had displays that could hold multiple lobby cards but I
haven’t found anything available which would allow me to display an 8 lobby
card set in a single frame. I hate trying to get 8 frames to align properly on
the wall. I’m also not looking to invest a huge amount in a custom frame.

I have collected about 6 glass slides that I would also like to display in a
lighted frame. This could be a bit difficult because at least one is missing
the cardboard frame and one has just tape on the edges. I think it would be
great to see these even if it were only a few at a time.

Thanks for reading my story and I appreciate any feedback.
