Opened my mailbox today and found a flyer for the Heritage VHS Signature auction on June 9. It does show when they shipped it, but it was relabeld in Austria and arrived almost a full month after the auction. Well done, International Postal Services!
Btw, Galerie filmposter.net has long abandoned the Postal Services for most international transports, we now ship almost exclusively with either UPS or DHL Express. In most countries everything you order from my webshop will be delivered in 2-5 days.
And unlike Heritage, who will bill you the full Fedex list price for international shipments these days and put their estimated 60-80% discount in their pocket, we use our discount to keep the shipping fees as low as possible. To be honest, I personally think it's totally ridiculous that a small business like mine will charge you A FRACTION of the cost an multi-billion dollar operation takes from you, but here you are...
Just one example: With the last item I won from them, I made the mistake to have it shipped to Germany. It came in a ridiculously oversized box and Heritage charged me $239.40 shipping for a lot that hammered at $600. With my rates, I could have shipped this for about 60% less and I no a doubt that the Heritage discount is at least that much, most likely more than that. So that's $120 commission from me, $150 or something like that from the buyer, and another $150 from the shipping, $420 profit from a $600 commission piece. Not bad at all. And once they have succeeded to take all small businesses out of the game, they can really give it another go...
Even after my disount, the courier services are not cheap, but very much worth the effort and extra cost.
Also, the Euro is at an all-time low: We're almost 1:1 with the US-$ at the moment, so my listings are quite a bargain for US buyers at the moment.
Cheers,
Helmut
