I just told my ink supplier some of my war stories.. as I've made some
Blunders but also some hit it out ofthepark evenifit was dumb luck
butthelessons I learned was to treat each therewith respect,,,only one
dealer ever pushed my freak out button and many other knew him as
Greg..he wanted buyable the posters of a title I had I guess thinking
would. corner the market,,he would Burp on trephine talk rude
etc...whati realized was they was just lonely lost a ton of moneyed was
sad...his parrot even flew the coop//so I justtryed to treat him kind
but he really pushed it
see many dealers get ego trips..one guy wanted to be therefor poster
king and putlotsof money into great posterreprintsand a FULL color
catalog..I only did tabloid 2 color black and red.. but we printed
10.000 a run and had to mail them\wven with 1.00 asking we barely
covered the postage but we got a 30% response rate I was told was
great...grocery stores that do 3 million are happy with a 3% returns
what impressed me mostofother dealers was kindness and care..like
Richard danilovitch in Boston..always was kind...and Randy in Cleveland
was always very prompting did good work..actually taught me how to pack
roll of 50 rolled posters,,and so many more like Movie gallery in east
meadow New York Marty lifshultz..I went to his shop one year as well as
Randyand a few in NYC..
all were kind helpful...I also did trades with Canada...england,
Germany.and Germany would send me 199s ofposteron credit !!!! what trust
eh??
I miss my friends from toehold days some passed and some just
retired..but all have ben good memories.. like the women of mono,,like
Nathalie, Toochis, Shelly whitworth, Sue and Andrea Kanter, and Lumi.and
more
when we answer email or phone call its simply respect and I remember how
Bruce, andEd Poole and others like Jim Episale and others called me just
to say hello.
with all the technology inseams impossible to not reply without least a
answer//but I offer free to anyone help to network them and get places
to sell their wares as manned money forefoot orrentor gas..so I tell
them how to lookout history on eBay toes what items are selling fororsay
look at bruce or learn about posters..
as so many dontwant to get lowballed onthieritems.. I get it when was
down I just wanted honesty
so heres whet I do..I say yes you have some great items as many say they
have 100s ofthesame title -so they disrespect your passion
andyouritems... I also say hey look here are the other dealers give them
a callas maybe they will offer you more
as I tell my son there is always more stuff, people die, estates are all
overandmany just want declutter..also many just want a few but as they
are oldeirand want clear it out so the family does notgeta huge mess...
that show I feel..andmy son is who I will leave my treasure to.
but some guys just are greedy and take advantageofthe weak its been
since biblical days the same..
But when you help the weak,old, and ignorant its really the best way
because the joy they get is so much more then the joy you get ripping
off the elderly or mentally ill, depressed or those in need..
as far as if they are a alcoholic or add person or ocd.. I tried my best
to tell them spend the money on food and home not collectibles yet I was
a addict myself,,when would Get a call for projectors I said im like a
homeless puppy shelter and I saw the benefit of saving themas I could
fix the simple repairsfnd replace lamps..but as my eyes started to
fail..I saw even for free I needed to turn them away,,people were
saddened,,but just kept getting more and more...I think have like 40 and
they are not worth much but the shipping is costly so I sell them as is
even if they workbed the people get great disappointment when the item
is not in perfect condition and works
my biggest sals came from Warner bro, universal, Disney and music
land.suncoast/oncue
I credit it from giving good customer service
I think around 1990 was when did some great deals..I offered a free
repair on my clocks if they ever failed so one day woman called and said
out clock stopped..I said no problem return it..andillfix it free..she
did and I returned,,then thephone rang,,it was her again I said dont
tell me my repaired one failed?? she said no my boss was so impressed
with your serce we want to order 5000 of your clocks for the paramount
home video release of the Addams family..59k order!!!
then I was at a trade show in Chicago the nation alpremium show
and another womaan came up to the booth and was looking my clocks...I
start give my pitch she says you can stop I've heard all about you and
was with HBO Warner bros..she said would liketoorder 15,000 for Robert
Deniros BROX tale..they also ordered clapboard clocks for Guilty
bysumspcion another Deniro film
we also did 3000 paramount movie award clocks for Planes trains and
automobiles..

by year 2000 I got divorce and the years qofstress took toll plus poor
money management...

get froze and forgiven afterpayingoff100k..I nota 65 centrefubd..and
still had my business...however the ex got the building home.....which
then she goths and gave it to Tommy and then bout the neighbors store
.house as back in the 40s people lived intheback ofthierstores..
anyways the thing was I told the bankers the truth. mycustomersandi
didn't hide from them ..nowlatly iim just saddened as the new normal is
scammers Facebook fromallover the world trying to dupe old people and
middle class people..I feel sorry for the fraudsters as they have family
too and the biggest lesson is none of us gets away long term with
negative behavior so I would say,,stop stand turn to positive and love..
we all can change evenwhenwe make mistakes..
and all can improve
