Actually you can adjust your settings for Buy Now purchases so that the buyer can add each item to their cart and then combined shipping will be calculated when they checkout. It’s a bit difficult to find how to do it but I only sell fixed price items and it generally works for me.

The buyer must pay instantly and includes shipping. So, multiple Buy Now purchases generate a shipping fee for each purchase. Then, I must refund the extra shipping fees. In the past, I have used the option of taking down several listings and combining them into one listing to sell them to a single buyer as you suggested. Isn’t eBay fun! In any case, it only works if buyers purchase everything together. If they purchase something and pay and then decide to add something a bit later, you have to refund shipping separately and that has its issues. Strange that I neve have any problems with combined shipping on my website but eBay seems to make it more difficult than it should be. Another thing that is annoying is when customers ask for a bulk discount on multiple purchases. There is no way to send them an invoice or offer so I end up making a separate listing for the multiple items so they get the discount and one postage charge. All unnecessarily time consuming.
