I think this may help local theater owners. The biggest threat to local theater owners is private equity gobbling up real estate. They’ve ruined housing so theater real estate is next.
I think Sony is seeing the trend that megaplexes are not the draw they used to be and more curated/intimate experiences are. Tarantino’s theaters are doing well here as is Vidiots, etc. I think Sony is jumping on that. Not sure how it will pan out with anti-trust laws but our business is in such sad shape now they may be able to move without any scrutiny.
