Someone else mentioned one of Sutherland’s best, the 1978 remake of “Invasion
of the Body Snatchers,” but what about “Klute?” Every time I encounter it on
TCM I can’t not watch.

But curious, Bruce, do you really think his main criteria for taking a role was
just the cash? I’d call him a working actor—in it for the long haul. Sometimes
you make a classic, sometimes you make a dud. But staying employed in the
acting business long term can be difficult. Seems like an unnecessary dig that
money was his driving force. Just my 2 cents.

Subject: [MOPO] RIP Donald Sutherland

RIP Donald Sutherland :(

He was a superb Canadian actor from the 1960s to the present. While he gave
wonderful performances in a number of movies, his main criteria for deciding to
take a role seemed to be how much he was paid, because he appeared in lots of
movies not worthy of his talents.

Some of his movies include: JFK, MASH (as Hawkeye Pierce), Ordinary People,
Dirty Dozen, Animal House, Don't Look Now, 1900, Cold Mountain, Kelly's Heroes,
and The Hunger Games series (as President Snow).

In 2015's "Forsaken", he played the father of his real life son, Kiefer
Sutherland, who is also a wonderful actor, and in many ways has followed in his
father's footsteps.
