I had no idea Kallis lived this long. As many of you know I am a huge fan of the Fifties AIP/Allied Artists horror/bad girl posters and Mr. Kallis is well represented in my studio and my other poster areas. His one sheet from "Fire Maidens from Outer Space" is one of my favorite posters of all time. It managed to make a spectacularly awful and boring movie look exciting. Now THAT'S talent!
I just purchased a small cache of unused AIP one sheets and some lobby sets still in their original brown paper bags with the NSS stamp on them. The Kallis gallery is growing. Those images were a huge part of my childhood and they truly resonate with me...and isn't that part of why we all collect these expenses pieces of paper?
Thank you Albert, wherever you are.

PS-I was a writer for Filmfax for awhile. Had I known Kallis was still with us that would have been a great interview. (Michael Stein, the publisher, of that wonderful magazine, has been in poor health for awhile. With the market for print media dwindling away to nothing, we may have seen the last of that publication.) Mike's a great guy and worked his ass off getting that magazine out every couple of months. I had a great time being involved with those guys.

Subject: [MOPO] RIP Albert Kallis
RIP Albert Kallis :(

Together with Reynold Brown, Kallis was the pre-eminent 1950s horror/sci-fi movie poster artist, and, like Brown, he presented images FAR more appealing than the movies themselves!

And his very long life was filled with FAR more than just movie poster illustration! See https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/latimes/name/albert-kallis-obituary?id=55873612
