*I am posting this to tell you that, unless you sent consignments on
September 6th or before that date then consigning to our great 25th Annual
Halloween Auction is NOW CLOSED!Our three part Halloween Auction starts
early this year (on October 1st, 3rd and 6th). That means that all
consignments had to be sent no later than September 6th (they had to be ON
THEIR WAY by that date, NOT arrive here by that date)! As of today, we have
entered 1,952 items for this most special auction! And of course there are
LOTS more on their way to us, and others we have received but not yet
entered! And YES, you read right. This IS a 3 part auction, as we did last
year! And when I said this Halloween Auction is "great", I am not
exaggerating one bit! You know how EVERY other major auction but us has a
"round up the usual suspects" feel to them, filled with items that
supposedly recently sold for vast sums of money, but for some reason they
keep coming back to auction again and again and again? You will never see
that is OUR auctions, because what we sell REALLY sells (in the very rare
cases where the buyer never pays we always reveal that, and when the buyer
later re-consigns the item we reveal that too!). And we make a MASSIVE
effort to track down items we have NEVER auctioned before, or have only
auctioned long ago, which gives OUR auctions a "fresh" quality you never
see in other auctions. One quick look at the preview ads below confirms
that this is completely true with this auction!Since it is now too late to
consign, just return to our site October 1st, when Part I of this auction
goes "live".AND THIS AUCTION INCLUDES WHAT IS LIKELY THE SINGLE MOST
DESIRABLE (and incredibly rare) 1950s HORROR/SCI-FI POSTERS THERE IS, THE
FIRST RELEASE BRITISH QUAD FROM WAR OF THE WORLDS!You surely know that
almost every first release U.S. poster from this movie shows a large image
of an alien hand. There is a style B half-sheet that shows alien warships
that we have previously auctioned 4 examples of, and those have sold for
between $21,000 and $17,000 (but we have seen reported sales of as high as
$55,200). There is a 1965 re-release one-sheet that shows alien warships
and we have previously auctioned 9 examples of that poster, and those have
sold for between $4,600 and $3,000 (likely the highest priced 1960s
re-release poster there is).But we have NEVER before auctioned this first
release British Quad poster, which has a completely different and FAR more
colorful image of an alien warship, and we have only ever seen one reported
sale of this poster (for $38,400, a restored on linen example), and rumor
has it this same poster will be returning to auction this year). But while
that other example we know of is restored on linen, the example we are
about to auction in our Halloween Auction is UNRESTORED, and it has truly
minor fold and border wear, and the colors are extremely bright, indicating
it was either barely or never displayed, while the previously sold example
(at another auction) has telltale signs of having had its colors enhanced
during linenbacking! The winning bidder of this wonderful poster will truly
have one of the most desirable (if not the MOST desirable) 1950s
horror/sci-fi posters there is (and it may well also be the most desirable
1950s movie posters period!). And they will have a fantastic great
condition UNRESTORED example, so it is also very likely the best surviving
example! What will it sell for? No one can say until the hammer falls, but
certainly few, if any can argue it is not MUCH superior to the Style B
half-sheet, so that gives us a clue! But of course the final bid price will
be set by two REAL bidders (not true in many auctions), so return to our
site after this wonderful poster begins, and follow its bidding closely
until the end, as it is bound to be exciting! And go to

special set of auctions! RETURN TO OUR SITE ON OCTOBER 1ST WHEN PART I OF
THIS AMAZING AUCTION GOES "LIVE"!*
