I just won a "Bride of the Monster" half sheet yesterday at Hake's auction for a reasonable $414.00 (with all the F**k You Fees included. Hake's buyer's premium is a relatively reasonable 18%.). My bank account just took a hit for $516.00. $102 in shipping fees via UPS Ground? Did UPS triple their rates while I was peacefully sleeping? There's no sales tax here in the state of Oregon so it ain't that.
I'm happy to have won the poster...the predicted price was $700-100... and given its price elsewhere I can ultimately reconcile the final ding to my Visa card but...102 bucks? I want to go to work at wherever they use for handling. These guys must be making $50 an hour.
I just wrote them a letter. I don't expect anything to change but I'll definitely be looking to put my precious poster money elsewhere. (Sorry Bruce. I'm having a bit of a case of the "shouldas" this morning.)
