And speaking of Heritage...
For any fellow Monster Kids on MOPO, there's an upcoming auction called "Unearthly Wonders", a cornucopia of horror stuff. There's some cool material, including some Universal six sheets on linen. I have neither the room to display nor the money to purchase them but "Ooooo!" and "Ahhhh!" factor is off the charts. Bidding starts on April 4th. And who was Larry K. Springer? I'm surprisedI never heard of him.

Subject: [MOPO] Heritage's Poster Descriptions
I had an interesting experience recently with Heritage regarding their March 27th auction. It's frustrating how they try to hide what's really going on with a poster's condition.
They had a Japanese original release B2 poster on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and I was interested. I zoomed through the Description and then impulsively placed a bid on it. Afterwards I went back and re-read the Description more carefully... and started thinking I'd acted wrong... moved too fast.
Re-reading the Description I saw red flags I had neglected to focus on... like "Additionally, there are a few small strips of cellophane tape on the verso." Hmmm... how many tape strips constitutes what they think is "a few"? I emailed Heritage asking for more detailed information. And they promptly responded:
"There are roughly 16 strips of cellophane tape along the borders and folds of the verso that are each no bigger than 1 inch. Additionally, there is one strip of cellophane tape on the verso that has a very minute piece of paper taped under it that is subtly visible on the recto."
Whoa. How does 16 pieces of tape become "a few small strips of cellophane"? If I chase this poster and win it means that along with their oversized premium, I would have to find a poster restorer to remove the tape without damaging the piece.... so add in another $100 or so. Oh well, the poster was rare, thought I'd eat the cost and so I bid. Didn't win. Oh well..... on to the next auction.
