I'm looking at the Springer collection auction opening this week at
Heritage and I have to say, I am really amazed at the collection Larry
was able to put together over the years
Larry was a voracious buyer of horror & scifi, having bought some stuff
from me over the years, but I was not aware of the breadth of his entire
collection. Loads of really amazing items.
certainly among the best collections of it's kind with a huge selection
of British paper, and the Realart reissue material seems to be really
comprehensive.
Another thing that strikes me are the number of times Heritage notes
it's only the first or second time they have offered many of these
posters, particularly where concerns Realart paper, which shows how
really rare some of those Universal reissues are, and some are truly
wild images, like those Weird Woman reissues. Also, the number of
Realart lobby cards with images different from the original release sets
is amazing.
Heritage killed it with their single-owner collection last week, with a
$1.48Million dollar auction result and I think the Springer collection
is going to have some great results also, with many collectors trying to
fill in those empty holes and maybe with new collectors trying to absorb
and build an instant collection.
Has anyone here ever seen that Dr Who British double crown before?
I think this auction, as well as the auction last week, will also prove
something indisputable: That you are way better consigning such
collections to Heritage instead of going to the website that sells the
most for less. Without a doubt.
