The 12 year-old kid who still lives in my body just went berserk! I'll ask the dad who lives elsewhere in my body if we can go to this (he has to convince my wife first.)

Subject: [MOPO] Universal horror gets its own massive land in new $7 billion theme park
Thought this was mildly interesting.  Apparently the first new mega-theme park to be built in decades in the USA - is finishing up its soft opening in Orlando, integrating all Universal Studios properties in one place.  Epic Universe is costing its owners $7 billion spread over nearly 800 acres.

But there is a carve out horror theme park within that's called Dark Universe featuring Universal horror monsters that is likely to be the most popular.  A little cheesy but there are nods to all of the classics to keep them alive for young generations nearly 100 years after their debut.   The ones I saw in the publicity materials included Frankenstein, Dracula, Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, Mummy, Wolf Man, Bride of Frankenstein, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Cat and the Canary, Murders in the Rue Morgue, Black Cat, Old Dark House, the Raven, Dracula's Daughter, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc.  There may be more stories elsewhere about this section of the park.  The WSJ offered just one graph in its story today:

"Over in the misty Dark Universe section, a ride called Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment - features a 9-foot-tall animatronic of Frankenstein’s monster that, in a thrilling reveal, walks toward guests.  The characters’ robotic technology is more realistic than the hydraulic systems of older animatronics, said Peter Weishar, professor and director of the themed graduate experience programs at the University of Central Florida. He said he visited the park multiple times while it was being built and during its soft opening."
