Beanie babies made up for the most hilarious ebay auction I ever saw. This was in the hey-days of beanie babies and the story was actually picked up by several news channels: The guy had posted a large collection, claiming they all belonged to his wife, and stating 'I'm glad the bitch is gone, and I will be even happier when this crap is out the house as well' He also stated that the money would go into 'tools and beer'.
Apparently, he had a number of truly rare ones, like the $800 octopus or what not, and since there was big money involved, there were tons of fakes as well at the time. So people started pestering him about the details, and he totally lost it, outright refusing to 'look some little critter in the ass' and stating 'Are you crazy of what?' Needless to say, the whole thing escalated, they would accuse him of fraud, and what not. I actually don't if ebay still has comments, but at the time they had, and the entire conversation was public. Absolutely hilarious. Unfortunately, I have no recollection what the lot sold for. Or if the collection was real or just a brillant scam. Funny thing is, it wouldn't make any difference today.

I never bought pogs or beanie babies. I do have a ton of baseball cards from the late 80's that now I wish I hadn't purchased!
