He is the only person to have been awarded both a Nobel Prize

Oscar
(1938)<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Writing_Adapted_Screenplay>.
These were awarded for Shaw's contribution to literature and the film *
Pygmalion* <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pygmalion_%281938_film%29>,
respectively. (It is not the case that Al
Gore<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gore>shares this distinction, as
the Academy Award for
*An Inconvenient Truth* was not awarded to Gore personally).
