[Ham]
May I remind you that "mediation" does not mean "derivation". It means
"intervention between conflicting parties or agents".

[Arlo]
Mediation, as it is referred to by Pirsig, indicated that the contents of the
latter (mind) do NOT come from "the world of objects" but come about via social
activity. This is expressed clearly in his statement, "our intellectual
description of nature is always culturally derived" (there is the word derived,
by the way).

[Ham]
With all due respect, Arlo, your persistent crusade on behalf of a "collective
consciousness" is not only epistemologically unsound, it hinders the
acceptance of Pirsig's philosophy.

[Arlo]
Well, thankfully we have Ham's Crusade for the Lone Individual to set us all
straight.

Nonetheless, what I say resonates fully with the MOQ, and indeed is little more
than a restatement of Pirsig's ideas. So this type of rhetoric, Ham, while
sadly expected is just sad. I suppose right around now is time for you to whip
out the "communist" and "nihilist" bugaboos.
