Yes - I think we are talking about the same kind of thing.

Not that I know of around here - though we do have a black
bear! coyotes and snakes. I haven't heard anyone mention
any gators around our area yet - I suppose it's possible -
but I think they are usually a little further inland.

Yes - we are about 1/2 mile from the mouth of the river -
they didn't go in the freshwater - I'm not sure if they can or
not  - I think they turned around a little past our house and
headed back out into the bay.

well sort of...the water that comes out of the creek right into the
bay - yes it's brown colored but very, very clear. 
The overall bay is not brown, and around our dock it's kind
of golden colored - but again - very very clear - 
on the other side of the bay it's really clear - not colored at
all. 

I have a bunch of new pictures that I'll post one of these days
on one of my websites.
