[Chris]
Yes. Good to clarify this. Seems Platt has lost sight of this in all the
"freedom" yelling =)

[Krimel]
As Kris Kristopherson said "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to
lose." But in Platt's neocon new speak I tend to think it may actually be
something far more sinister.

[Chris]
A Static Pattern is Good. That we all know. If it is too static it will
quite probably die. Good and well.

[Krimel]
'Static Pattern' is kind of redundant when you think about it. But we
perceive the world in terms of patterns. Humans are pattern recognition
machines. We see patterns instinctively. We create them if none exist. As
Pirsig points out the problem arises from our failure to recognize that we
have static patterns of perception that if allowed to calcify show us
nothing but a world of illusion.

[Chris]
The funny thing I have noticed in recent debates here is not only the
anti-intellectual positions that some have (too much ZMM and too little
Lila?), but also the anti-static positions that some seem to have. Seems
strange.

[Krimel]
Actually I tend to see too much Lila and not enough ZMM but that's just me.

BWT welcome aboard! Even while lurking I have noticed that the 'newcomers'
especially you and Jorge are valuable additions to our dysfunctional
community. Don't take the 'newcomer' comments from others to seriously since
if the 'old timers' where not explaining their positions to you they would
only be restating them to each other. Besides relative to Bo and Magnus and
Platt we are all newcomers. On the other hand I recommend that you browse
the archives and read every post by me and my former self, Case. You need
never reach of the Ambien again.
